Playafood Review

First Greek restaurant in Playa del Carmen and already a success. Off the tourists path, find this little restaurant at the end of the 38th Street by the Beach !

Just came back from Milos, Wed Jan 21. Had walked past it a few times and today on coming back from the beach a young guy told us the lamb was great. We do our own lamb quite well - leg, rack, chops so were looking forward to a real treat.
It is a very nice setting just a very short distance to the sand/beach entrance on 38th but no ocean view to speak of. A nice young waitress and not too busy when we arrived. Music was mostly rock and too loud for an otherwise nicely appointed venue.
Not a big selection of red wines but we had a Spanish that was reasonably good. Then an appetizer of eggplant that was great, our expectations were raised.
I ordered the lamb shiskabab and spouse ordered lamb chops which is suppose to be their specialty. These were among the highest prices on the menu. What we got was extremely disappointing. My meat was overcooked, very tough, and loaded with what tasted like Jamaican rub with extra salt.. My wife's "5 chops" were long bones with very little meat, loaded with the same spices and again much too salty. The sides of vegetables were almost ok as was the rice but again very salty.
Our bill came to 1078 pesos, 1200 given including tip as the waitress was nice. One appetizer, two meals, plus 3 glasses of wine. Will not go there again and will tell friends here about experience and expensive very poor food. Live and learn.
